Are men less interested in the Bible than women? For years, State of the Bible research has shown that men consistently score lower in Scripture Engagement compared to women. In 2025, only 17% of men are Scripture Engaged compared to 22% of women.
However, new data reveals a more complex picture. Surprisingly, men are more likely to be Bible curious, with 30% in the Movable Middle compared to 23% of women. Even more noteworthy is the significant surge in Bible use among men in 2025, jumping from 34% in 2024 to 41%. This increase is particularly pronounced among Gen X men (29% increase) and Millennial men (25% increase).
While men still lag behind women in deep, transformational Bible engagement, this growing trend in Bible use could indicate a positive shift.
In this Insight from State of the Bible, Dr. John Plake explores these fascinating trends in men’s Bible engagement. What are you observing in your community? Are you seeing more men interested in the Bible? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
